26 Oct A Proton Therapy center in Leuven
Since this summer the new proton therapy located in Leuven on the Gasthuisber campus has welcomed seven cancer patients.
Proton therapy is considered to be the most advanced form of radiotherapy. It is particularly appropriate to treat tumors near vital organs, eyes or brain.Nearly 200 patients per year are eligible for this type of treatment.
Up to now, patients had to travel abroad for similar treatment but thanks to IBA, which supplied the equipment to UZ Leuven, this will now be possible in Belgium.
