1- Could you introduce yourself in a few words?

I am Nathan Derhy, a banking manager who has evolved in both national and international contexts, at headquarters and subsidiaries, and well-versed in the challenges and issues of the financial sector.

Graduated from NEOMA Business School, I have built my career within Société Générale, holding strategic and operational roles in 9 countries and across 3 continents.

My journey has allowed me to acquire solid transversal expertise, covering various areas such as strategy, management of multicultural teams, development of profit centres, risk and compliance, financial steering and organisational transformation. I have also participated in ambitious projects such as mergers, the establishment and management of joint ventures, restructurings, and the geographic expansion of activities.

In early 2023, I began a transition manager activity internally at Société Générale. This allowed me to satisfy my interest in tackling various strategic and operational challenges based on my professional adaptability gained through my many, sometimes complex missions throughout my career.

I was able to take on high-stakes, value-added positions that confirmed the significant importance of Transition Management to support decision-makers in filling sensitive positions within their organisation during the duration of their strategic or operational projects.

Confident in this conviction, I decided to pursue this activity after my departure from Société Générale a few weeks ago, and I am therefore very happy to join ISALYS to support @Baptiste and @Olivier in developing the banking and insurance practice of Isalys Augmented Management.

2- Can you review your professional path to date? What are the major milestones in your career?

After my business school and a VSNE in Jakarta, Indonesia, with Crédit Lyonnais where I was the assistant to the financial director of the leasing subsidiary, my selection interviews at Société Générale convinced me that I could take on rapid managerial responsibilities, particularly to participate in international development.

I therefore started with 3 years within the audit and support unit in the international leasing network, where I conducted various missions that allowed me to develop a first level of transversal understanding of banking functions and to gain international experience (overseeing an IT project in Barcelona, financial audit in Vienna, managerial support for setting up our subsidiary in Prague, competitor acquisition study in Taipei, etc.)

The opportunity I was given to join Fimat in 1993 (a brokerage subsidiary focused on Futures and Options, booming at the time) allowed me to access the managerial responsibilities at the international level that I aspired to.

In about ten extremely active years, I served as Deputy Director of activities in Madrid, Co-Director of HK, Deputy Director then Director of the Southeast Asia region from Singapore, Deputy Director of the alternative asset management entity in Chicago, and finally Deputy Director of one of our “star” subsidiaries in Germany, where we were the market leader. From these years within a rapidly expanding business line, I developed strong adaptability to human, strategic, and operational issues, as well as autonomy and independence in the service of a common vision.

The following twelve years led me to hold three director positions of 4 years each on high-stakes projects: I was first responsible for the implementation and then the management of Operations for the Investment Bank of KB in Prague. Then I served as Director of the Securities business in India, specifically responsible for the establishment and operational and commercial launch of a joint venture with our local partner, State Bank of India, and finally I took over the leadership of our entity in Ireland, a key player in the Securities business in Europe.

Back in Paris, I was the deputy then director of international of SGSS (the group's securities business), supervising up to fifteen entities with varied activities in as many countries and across all their dimensions (commercial development, Risk, Compliance, HR, Finance, etc.). These were exciting years that confronted me with all kinds of challenges (crises, divestitures, geographical developments, etc.), while always ensuring to maintain the coherence of this diverse set with the central principles and objectives.

Finally, as I mentioned earlier, I began in 2023 a transition manager activity internally at Société Générale that allowed me to leverage my experiences acquired during my career where the needs were felt. In nearly two years, I conducted three missions: Secretary General of the group Resources division; support for integrating the Risk function as part of the strategic merger of ALD and LeasePlan (the new entity becoming Ayvens); support for the LeasePlan/ALD Spain merger focusing on the aspects of Risk and Compliance, with a focus on organisation and change management.

3- Is there a professional experience that has particularly marked you? Why, and what did you take away from it?

There are actually two experiences:

Setting up a joint venture in India from a blank sheet was particularly exciting. The teamwork locally with our partners and with the central support functions of SG was very stimulating and allowed us to set up an “up & running” activity in a very short time. I enjoyed taking responsibility for achieving the objectives set by my internal stakeholders, and this is also how I see us assisting our clients in the future: by providing them with managers who roll up their sleeves and engage with the greatest responsibility in the missions entrusted to them.

Furthermore, leading the International department (covering up to around fifteen countries) of one of the business lines of Société Générale has been particularly stimulating. This has led me to manage extremely diversified issues while maintaining a coherent strategic vision. This experience allowed me to develop a strong ability to diagnose needs and implement tailored solutions, which completely resonates with the mission I will undertake at ISALYS.

4- What motivated you to join ISALYS Augmented Management?

First, the content of the mission that was proposed to me, which will entail deploying towards the banking/insurance segment, where Isalys is still little present, its know-how and solutions in terms of transition management.

Moreover, Isalys has a client-oriented culture, agile, demanding, and at the same time very friendly, which suits me very well.

I am therefore excited to take on this development mission in a segment where we can help our banking/insurance clients to address the numerous challenges in their sector (regulatory, technological, or operational efficiency, to name just a few).

And I am delighted to join a dynamic team whose values (excellence, communication, entrepreneurship, pride, humility & pleasure) and dimension ensure a high-quality bespoke service to its clients.

Finally, it is the quality of the exchanges I had with the management of ISALYS AM (Olivier Solas / Baptiste Siauve-Huard ), which houses the Transition Management activities, but also those with the shareholders/creators of the ISALYS group ( Christian RogerGilles Roger) that convinced me to join them.
